1  Other Hardware Technical Issues / Questions & Fixes / Blue screen of death on: November 14, 2012, 05:21:44 AM
Hi, im using windows 7 trial version and YouRock seems to cause Blue screen of death about after 1 hour of being plugged in. This happens about 4/5 times. Not always but most often.

This never happens if YouRock guitar isn't plugged in. Any tips? Thanks!
2  Other Hardware Technical Issues / Questions & Fixes / Re: Big problem with my guitar on: July 08, 2012, 12:01:54 PM
may not be direct fix but, maybe experimenting with lowering string sensitivity might remove it.

i had problems with all strings sounding by just hitting one string. longshot but might work

notion progression sounds great! thanks for the find.

back then i remember 'cakewalk guitar studio'
(not the guitar studio i mentioned in my original post)

yeah, except it is phased out and it was back in 2000.
i love working with these old cakewalk programs though as they are light to load and the interface is easy.
4  Other Hardware Technical Issues / Questions & Fixes / Re: E A D strings sound all the other strings. Light also never goes off. on: June 24, 2012, 11:47:08 PM
Thanks for the replies guys..

Sorry for the rant. I thought it was really broken so i was panicking... (and shipment would be too expensive so no return) Turns out the string sensitivity being 10 was causing it.

I was earlier having problems with the strings not being sensitive enough. Putting it to 10 seemed to make things better but i wasn't experiencing this prob.

I put it down to 5 and now it is not causing this problem anymore.

So its not broken! Whew!
5  Other Hardware Technical Issues / Questions & Fixes / E A D strings sound all the other strings. Light also never goes off. on: June 23, 2012, 02:31:07 AM
If i continually pluck the E string, eventually it will make all strings sound, starting from A to D then G B high E.

Sometimes, the light screen interface flickers and then it goes back to normal, then after a while it becomes like this again.

This is really frustrating as ive only used this product about 5 times and only for a short time. I ordered it from another country since its not available here. And after 5 uses its malfunctioning.

Is the quality of this product really that bad? Or is there something else?

Anyone experience this?
Thanks

7  Other Hardware Technical Issues / Questions & Fixes / Re: Strumming & power chords can't emulate real guitar. Low string sensitivity on: June 02, 2012, 04:11:35 AM
thanks for your reply,

ive been experimenting some more,

i looked around the forum and remembered about loosening the strings. It helped a bit.
i am not using it as a midi controller yet. Just as it is. Yes, playstyle seems to be a large part of it.
Some things you can do, some things you can't so much.

Finger picking seems to be the best approach so far for lead playing. My guitar pick interacts weirdly also with the strings. It causes a double trigger (even with tap/slide turned off).

Strumming seems to work better with my pick. Single strums sound great. It's the rhythmic patterns that get jumbled up.

There are some glitches with the slides not triggering especially when playing 2 strings at a time.

Tap is a nice useful option.

All in all practicing on it is really dirty for me. Don't know if i should keep going and get more used to it or use my regular guitar for practicing and just use this for composing.

My goals are really to easily input midi into a DAW. Ive not played in a long time but am hoping the YRG will make it easier for me to do what i like most which is compose and easily have stuff recorded and easily editable and tweakable.
8  Other Hardware Technical Issues / Questions & Fixes / Strumming & power chords can't emulate real guitar. Low string sensitivity on: June 02, 2012, 01:43:29 AM
hi. i just updated to the latest firmware and used the updater in the YRG app. I put string sensitivity to 10 also. But the guitar still doesn't play good. The strings still skip and strumming is very inaccurate. Some notes lag behind and powerchords sound jumbled up.

it is doing better if i pluck really hard at sensitivity 10. no silent strings if i do this so thats good. but takes alot of muscle.
strumming and power chords is still the same though. not consistent to be able to play simple strumming patterns to make it sound like a real guitar.. even if really playing hard. does anyone have this same problem? or similar experience?

Thanks SVH,

I was the same guy who posted on FB Smiley

So it looks to me it only has Major and Minor (Melodic)

I Will explore 3rd party apps like Hotz Midi translator
10  General Discussion / General Discussion Area / Re: How to chose scale and root note for "You Rock Mode"? on: April 27, 2012, 03:33:25 PM
i believe the OP is asking if u can choose more scales than just Minor/Major.

I.e. Harmonic minor and just jam along for an infinite time with that setting w/o hitting wrong notes.

this is also my question whether this is possible. Seems like its not..

Does anyone know any software that would allow this though?
11  General Discussion / General Discussion Area / Can you play other scales aside from Minor/Major? on: April 27, 2012, 03:30:43 PM
Hello,

Is there a feature that allows you to choose similarly like the feature that lets you choose Major/Minor scales, but that lets you choose Melodic/Harmnonic/Blues/Diminished, or other scales?

are you only able to play the different predefined scales along with backing tracks?

Im guessing this is the case. Is there any work arounds if this is so? Like perhaps software that allows you to only sound notes of your chosen scale?

I looked it up on google and found the Hotz Midi Translator, but this seems ancient. Aside from that, anyone know of any other tools that do this?

Thanks
I ordered my YouRock and will get it in about 18 days
