There is an updated version of YRG firmware that includes the following updates:
1. modulation for on board sounds
2. sensitivity increased to ~ 8 (out of 10)
3. support for PC based control panel queries (for upcoming control panel
release)

You can download the PC version of the updater today from our update site. The
MAC version will follow in a day or two.

http://inspired.com/yourockguitar/updates/YRGtools/YRG_App_Win.zip

Unzip it and install it ... when you run it, it will automatically check for the
updates and download them to your computer and then install it on the guitar.

--------------------------------------------------------
IMPORTANT UPDATE ...
we found that on some Vista and Win 7 machines this needs to be run as administrator otherwise it can damage the guitar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RUN THE YGR_APP AS ADMINISTRATOR...
(Properties-->Compatibility--> run as administrator)

If you have already bricked your guitar using the Updater -  you need to run the Emergency tool ... contact me at yrgbugs@gmail.com and I will help you with that.
--------------------------------------------------------

notes
1. the Library update is REALLY big ~70MB ... so please be patient - the
download is about 15 minute, the install is 5~10 depending on your machine
speed.
2. be careful ... do not disconnect the guitar while the software is installing
- you can DESTROY the guitar.

Made a huge difference, string sensitivity is just about perfect. Still would like to have the Control Panel to fine tune things.

Anyway, the YRG is much easier and fun to play with the latest firmware.

Also, the midi works great. Used it today with Tracktion (DAW software) and Finale. Both worked perfectly with the YRG. Very few ghost notes, sensed all notes...

OK ... we found out a few things ... on Vista and some Win 7 computers the OS does not copy the file from the system temporary folder to our folder (probably a permissions issue). This results in the updater erasing memory and then writing garbage to the guitar ... we will fix this immediately....

WORKAROUND: It seems to work if you set the YRG_App properties in Vista to Run as administrator.

RUN THE APP AS ADMINISTRATOR...
(Properties-->Compatibility--> run as administrator)

If you have already bricked your guitar using the Updater -  you need to run the Emergency tool ... contact me at yrgbugs@gmail.com and I will help you with that.

Question-does the You Rock need to be connected while downloading the library? Is the library download-resumable? I'm stuck with a slow internet connection, my connection can only say online to download about 50-60 MB at a time before it disconnects.

Thanks, before there was a page with the library download, hopefully there is one now.

If I remember correctly, the app is reporting that I've got firmware 1.0.3.9 installed and that it is the current version...how do I get to 1045?

The updater tool is here:

http://inspired.com/yourockguitar/updates/YRGtools/YRG_App_Win.zip

MAC version to be available soon

NOTE ... if you get a download error ... try run the application as administrator
(right click the exe or shortcut: properties--> compatibility --> select Run this program as administrator)

Using YRG_App_1.0.288, it shows the Current Firmware as 1.3.1.9 and the current library as 0.0.0.8.  Are those correct?

I really need an answer to this at some point, to the best of your knowledge, because I don't want to start updating, the internet disconnects, and I have a useless guitar. No rush, just please don't overlook me entirely.

First of all, download and install the YRG app. It only takes a minute or so.

Second, connect your YRG to the computer via USB.

Third, launch the YRG app.

It will connect to your YRG and indicate whether or not it is at the latest version.

If not, you can decide whether to install the update. It took 5 minutes to download the update and maybe five minutes to update the YRG. Two separate operations.

Hey RunBeerRun/mburch ....

You can check the guitar Version by holding down the MUSIC button for around 5 seconds ... it will then cycle the software/library/preset version numbers

The software revision reported by the YRG_App corresponds to our version control software and does not match the version number reported by the guitar firmware. The YRG_App will only update if you have older firmware than we have published.

The latest revision is 1.3.1.9 == which is equivalent to == guitar firmware 1.0.4.5 (as reported by the guitar)
library = 0.0.8

Confusing and we will fix this for future revisions!

NOTE that the YRG_App will not continue from where it left off if it is interrupted during download ... it will have to start again.

So there's no way for me to ever download the updated library? There was a link before, will it ever come back, or do I just not matter?

The YRG_App will look at the library and firmware versions on your guitar - if they are outdated, it will download the latest and install them in the guitar ...
