New beta firmware (rev. 1.049) and also the Control Panel app (rev. 0.058) allow 'Hammer enable' and Hammer pre Delay parameters (global).

These revs are only currently available to Inspired staff and approved beta testers.  We are currently spec-ing new firmware for development and future release.

The USB MIDI drivers in your o/s may be an issue as well as other drivers particularly some Logitech video cam drivers we have encountered in the past.

Which DAW?  What computer type?  What o/s ?

Please post your computer type and o/s in your profile description ... it helps us identify issues more quickly.

yesir.

you guys know it cant be run in addition to your DAW right? again, a video on how to use the app would be greatly appreciated  Smiley

nvidia graphics drivers. when you guys are putting out new firmware you are putting the best possible settings for accurate playing right. improving on each one. is that the goal?

The drivers known to cause issues with USB drivers are Logitech Video Cam drivers (Google it).

As far as putting out 'best possible settings', that would be a subjective determination so not sure quite how to reply to that one ...  Lips Sealed

Update:  turned off guitar and force quit app (unresponsive).
turned guitar on, launched app and hit check for updates.
Installing now. WOOHOO!!!

I LOVE THIS GUITAR!!!

Everything went fine, I think but i cant seem to change the string sensitivity from 8 to 10.  It just disconnects.

Thanks!

YRG APP 1.0359 has been sitting idle for like half an hour.  Download progress bar is full.  App says Init Download Mode... and guitar says Pc.  I would love a more thorough status update.  Is it safe to turn off the guitar and try again?  The Installing Updates bar is empty and has been for 20 minutes or so.  Zero activity.  Just dont want to do this wrong.

I'm sure their goal is to improve something in every firmware.  Looking through the posts on this board, there are many things they're working on: MAC software for updating the firmware and/or the MAC Control Panel, resolving the "Open string" issue, sensitivity issues, shipping issues, hardware issues (how to handle possibly defective strings), testing the beta CP with the guitar to get the bugs out, and some they don't need to mention.  Plus, they have to check this board every hour to see if any new issues came up while they were fixing the known issues.

I haven't received my YRG yet, but I'm satisfied thus far with their level of customer satisfaction.  I don't think this product will be "done" for a long time, and hopefully in a year, there'll be a Control Panel that lets the user customize each string to play a different sound in a different key using different decay and 'open' settings, but for now, I'm happy with what we got.

The beauty of such a complicated instrument is the vast capabilities that it can have with just a firmware update and/or a control panel update.

Maybe there will be a version 2 that has WIFI and a professional sound generator and looping capability and a TB hard drive to record everything you ever played on it.  I think I'll be good with the current hardware as long as I see improvements in the software/firmware over time.  I believe it IS the best thing out there.

Hi Everyone,
The YRG Control Panel Settings, that I tried were all adjustable in real time. You could play the YRG and change something in the YRG Control Panel and play the YRG as you adjusted things.
I sold 3 Yamaha EZs on ebay in the last couple of months. The You Rock Guitar is much more accurate as a midi guitar, whether using the YRG in single channel mode or one ch per string mode.
One's computer hardware and software setup always matters, for as we see from the various posts, some are having no problems, some want everything adjustable, and some are having problems no one else is posting about. That is life in computer land, whether one has a PC or a Mac.
Since the YRG has two midi outs, I agree with those who suggest always trying both midi outs to see if the performance is different. As YRG support staff collects information, on who is having problems and who is not, they do need your hardware and software setup. Including what YRG app version you are using, what music software and hardware you have, your computers specs including OS.
Midi problems can often be solved just by changing what sounds you are using. Midi Sounds are not equal in their ability to track midi guitar input and various midi guitar playing techniques. For example long pad patches with a long attack delay, and endless sustain, will never track fast guitar runs. What seems to be dropping notes, you may simply be outplaying the patches ability to follow follow your midi input.

We have seen that different people like different settings: looser or tighter strings, light touch or heavy touch response, wide or limited dynamic range, etc.  We have everyone from beginners to expert shredders.

Hundreds are, and soon thousands of YRGs will be, in owners' hands today and most seem pretty happy with the new production sensitivity setting in firmware rev. 1045 and having Control Panel available to dial their YRG in to there particular needs.

Why is it an issue if everybody agrees the CP always has an exclusive to the YRG anyways? That's just what it does, makes no difference what anybody's config is.

MIDI out and USB midi out have same data stream

If your issue is with the PC Panel application, note that it communicates with the YRG over MIDI using the built in MAC/Windows class drivers. The way these drivers work make it so you can only have one MIDI program talking to the YRG at a time ... so you cannot use Garage Band and the PC panel at the same time.

I hope any future upgrades won't be a full download like the previous library, I'm on 56k dial up and it can only stay online for about 50-60MB of downloading at a time. Thanks.

This will be code only update  - so it is ~ 640K download ... much easier and faster. We do not anticipate upgrading the library for some time.

That's good to hear. I like my YouRock as it is now, current library firmware and I have the control panel, all I did in that was boost sensitivity up to 10.
