Hello, I just got my great MIDI guitar this week. I think it is awesome.  I played it at CES in January and swore I would get one and yes now I have it.  Great device.  Sure has some quirks but it really does rock.

I do have an issue that I am hoping I can get some help with.  My bass E string keeps triggering even at the lowest sensitivity levels when #5 or 6 string is plucked hard.  Any thoughts?

I do like the new control panel and I have played the guitar through my Roland synth with awesome results in multi-sampled sounds.  I am soooo stoked.

There are a few things you can try:

  • Try lowering the individual string gain (SG) on the low E  in conjunction with changing the Trigger Sensitivity (tS).  Using both controls together gives greater control of the overall sensitivity.
  • Adjust the string tension.  Using a phillips-head (+) screwdriver, turn the screw at the end of the low E clockwise to tighten the string, which will decrease its sensitivity.  Start with small adjustments, 1/2 a turn or so.  Be careful not to over-tighten, as this can damage to your YRG
  • Enable the Crosstalk Filter (CF) under Performance Parameters in the Control Panel app (or CF in Menu 5 on the YRG itself).  This reduces the input from strings adjacent to the last plucked string, which should help with some false triggers (although it probably won't help much with the specific problem you've described).

Let me know if any of that helps out.

Great input I will try all of that.  I originally dropped all my tensions by 1/4 turn before I even hooked it up after reading some of these pages.  I will put the bass E back to its factory setting and do the other things.  I'll let you know how it goes.

my YRG Rocks!
