Synth, string, organ and wind instrument patches do not sustain correctly.

Some instruments naturally do not sustain - guitar or xylophone, for example.  This is handled correctly.

However some instruments should *always* sustain forever, as long as the note is held.  Synth, strings, organs and wind instruments, for example - all these should *never* stop playing the note until you actually release the note.  The YRG is wrong on these, because they all decay after about 5s or so, even if you keep holding the note down (and the orange LEDs report that the note is still held).  Sorry to be so absolute, but anything other than infinite sustain is plain wrong when compared to 2300 years of organs, 1400 years of stringed instruments or an indefinite history of circular breathing techniques.  Undecided

This is particularly a problem when you're using the YRG as a synth.  Pads simply don't work properly if you can't keep them held on.

I would have raised this as a tech support issue, but I've already hit my limit for tech support tickets!

Seeing as the guitar is primarily driven by software, isn't there some way to easily tweak this?  Otherwise, couldn't you connect it as a midi controller and set whatever application you're using to process the sound as an infinite sustain? Can anyone from YRG shed light on this?

Interesting take on this grab! Yeah I think with the internal presets you just kind of have to take what you get and work with it but definitely with apps or software you can tweak the sustain and so forth with just about any sound you use so it's one way to overcome that limitation unless your completely married to an internal sound that needs such sustain.  They seem to make big improvements with each new firmware update so I bet sustain issues will eventually be addressed on the internal sounds also.

I think drkrdglo is on the right track. As a MIDI controller, the YRG acts as it should (like a MIDI keyboard) as long as the note is held, the connected "synth" program will respond according to it's settings. Remember that the synth's settings fo ADSR and other factors on a particular sound control that sound after a MIDI message is recieved. I'm going to experiment with the internal sounds a bit, I just have never used them much since I use my YRG almost exclusively as a MIDI controller, but I'm thinking SVH is right on this-probably mostly stuck with what's on the YRG at this time for internal sounds. Back for the first time in a while! Smiley

At the risk of stating the obvious, this forum is "YRG internal sound and loops area".  And the problem is with the internal sounds...

It's a bit of a moot point for me now, since I've got a Roland XV2020 to do the noise-making side of things.  But the fact remains, the YouRock internal sounds ARE wrong on a deeply fundamental level.
