Whilst a workaround is suggested here, would it not be possible to add an additional parameter for the mute bar so that (for example) if you held your little finger against it whilst pulling off, it would sound the open string instead of muting it? Then when you break contact with the mute bar it then mutes the note - kind of an inverse mute, where it will play pulloffs if the bar is active.
