Hello,
sorry if this has been discussed before but I'm wondering if it is possible to set the YRG so that each string is set to a different MIDI channel.
Also I would like to know if it is possible to quickly change this setting while playing.
Say you want to play full 6 strings chords on a specific synth, but with other instruments you want the 6 strings to trigger 6 different instruments.

Is that possible?

Again the Gen 2 has some presets that use bass on the low strings then other tones on the higher strings so I think what you are asking is doable to an extent. Like I mentioned in the other thread I've had little time to really dig in with the Gen 2 yet but I'll keep you posted on my findings

From what I've been told the YRG 1000 will be upgradable to the Gen 2 firmware for a charge but no word yet on when that will be available

Good, I guess it would have been awkward otherwise, since the hardware is almost the same.

I'm a bit late on this!  But yes, it's possible.  IIRC, MIDI channel values 1-16 set channels 1-16 for all strings.  But again IIRC, value 17 sets MIDI channels 1-6 for the six strings, and value 18 sets MIDI channels 11-16.

You can change this relatively quickly.  The "MIDI" button lets you easily get to the setting; or you can program the MIDI channels into different patches and change patches as you go.  Neither is something you can do mid-song though, unless you've got a few seconds of rest.
