Technical Notes: String Sensitivity
String Sensitivity
This technical support document requires the use of the PC Control Panel or the YRG Menu system. For instructions on using these parameters see: using the YRG Menu System and using the PC Control PanelHaving problems with your YRG sensitivity … here are some solutions that can help optimise the response of your You Rock Guitar for your style of playing.
If you find that one of your strings is not responding as well as the others there are a few things to check. Note that all of these adjustments will interact with one another, so if you find one that makes a significant difference it may be necessary to go back and reset the other parameters that do not affect the sensitivity. (See using the MENU system for instructions on how to reset the Global Parameters)
String Gain can be individually adjusted for each string. String Gain is a global parameter – this means that it is not stored in a presset and it affects the guitar regardless of the preset selected. The String Gain can be adjusted from 1 ~ 10. The default value is 5. String Gain can be increased up to a value of 10. Typically you will adjust only one or two strings using String Gain. If you find you are adjusting all the strings, then you are better off using the Trigger Sensitivity parameter which affects the response of all strings.
Trigger Sensitivity is also a global parameter that is not stored in individual presets. Trigger Sensitivity affects the response of ALL the strings. The default value is 5, but it is common to increase this to 8 or 9 for different styles of playing – some people prefer higher sensitivity when fingerpicking.
String Tension does not directly change the sensitivity, but it does change the ‘feel’ of the strings and can also affect the mechanical coupling between the strings and the pickups - so there is a relationship between String Tensionand the feel of the guitar. The factory tension is chosen to be a good comprimise, but we have found that many of our customers prefer the tension to be a set a little lower than the factory default. It is easy to adjust using the six screws behind the bridge (2C) – please adjust these with caution. Usually ¼ turn counter clockwise will reduce the tension adequately. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.
A good rule of thumb is that if you press down on a string approximately at its mid-point, it should give easily – adjust them so that they easily can be pressed down to about 1/8” from the surface of the guitar.

Loose Pickups
If a string is not responsive, it is possible that the pickup
has become detached from the string. If this is the case you will often
hear a rattling sound when picking the string. This is simple to fix and
requires removing the bridge cover plate with a Philips screwdriver (2A) and
carefully snapping the pickups back on to the string. CAUTION. Use care when
snapping the pickups onto the string as too much pressure could damage the pickup
material
