Technical note: Replacing a broken string

1. You Will Need

A. Your YRG
B. A phillips head screw driver
C. Your string replacement kit 1.

2. Identify the following

A. The pickup box cover
B. The bridge cover
C. The tension screws 2.

 

3. Unscrew and remove:

A. The pickup box cover (two screws)
B. The bridge cover (three screws)

 

4. Remove the broken string:

A. Separate the pickup from the string by gently putting pressure on the pickup away from the string and pressure on the string away from the pickup.










B. Locate the appropriate tension screw and turn it approximately four full turns counter clockwise or until the string is loose.





C. Remove the broken string.
   

5. Replace The String

A. Each string has a wide hook and a thin hook, identify these before continuing.

 


B. Place the thin hook in its allocated slot above the pickup box.

C. Place the wide hook into the square tensioning nut, making sure the string is inserted in the same way as its counterparts.
D. Make sure the string is seated properly (the same as its counter parts).
                   
E. Align the pickup’s string groove with the string, then using two thumbs put gentle pressure on the pickup towards the string (you should feel the pickup snap onto the string). Warning: DO NOT FORCE
